Clyde claim last gasp win over Hamilton

A late winner on Saturday, saw Clyde keep the pressure on Falkirk, who won 3-1 against St Johnstone. Since this weekend, Falkirk have defeated Partick Thistle 3-0 and moved 5 points clear of Clyde.

Regarding this weekends games, Clyde recalled Aron Wilford and Mark Gilhaney to the starting line-up, with Aaron Conway and Craig Bryson dropping onto the bench. Alex Walker replaced the suspended Eddie Malone.

Halliwell
Mensing Wilson Potter Bollan
Gilhaney Gibson Sheridan Walker
Wilford Harty

Hamilton field several ex-Clyde players as they came to Broadwood for the first time in several seasons:

McEwan
Thomson McLaughlin Hodge
Tunbridge Arbuckle Carney Waddell
Convery Carrigan McPhee

The first half hour was frenetic, with both sides creating opportunities. A Wilford cross was flicked just past by Alex Walker and Walker also had an effort tipped past by McEwan.

At the other end, the impressive Carney saw a fierce drive stopped by Halliwell. Eventually, Accies took the lead with a neat move after Darren Sheridan had given the ball away. Convery neatly flicked the ball towards Brian McPhee, who's low cross was turned home by Scott Tunbridge.

It was crucial for Clyde to get back on level terms as soon as possible and Sheridan made up for his mistake with a stunning volley from 20 yards which flew past McEwan into the net. Up until halftime, only a Carney effort troubled Halliwell.

In the second half, Hamilton created most of the better chances, with Carney and Convery both missing good opportuinities. At the other end a neat move saw Gilhaney's low cross turned away by McEwan.

Scott Wilson was then taken off, suffering from flu but also as he was one foul away from a red card. Stuart Balmer took his place and had soon superbly cleared a low cross by Brian Carrigan with McPhee waiting to slot home. The impressive Wilford was then withdrawn and replaced by Conway, with Bryson replacing Jimmy Gibson in central midfield.

As the match reached stoppage time, Bryson was scythed down in the centre of the park by a terrible challenge from substitute Ian Fyfe. He was only booked but Hamilton received their just desserts, when Gary Bollans freekick was headed down by Simon Mensing and captain John Potter was there to fire home.

It was a crucial three points for Clyde with Falkirk and St Mirren both winning. Impressive performers for Clyde were Potter, Halliwell and Walker but my man of the match was Aron Wilford. The big striker takes so much stick, yet caused Hamilton no end of problems.
