Clyde vs St Mirren preview

Last updated : 02 September 2004 By David Worton
Clyde take on St Mirren at Broadwood Stadium on Saturday, in a match that is undoubtedly the biggest in Scotland this weekend. The top two teams in division One, are both unbeaten in the league this season, with only the Saint's draw in Dingwall marring their record. Clyde meanwhile have won 6 games on the trot this season, and haven't conceded a goal in over 360 minutes.

Clyde are set to include new boy Eddie Malone, who will make his debut against the team he was sent off playing against two weeks ago. There is no Karim Kerkar or Jean Louis Valois, both of whom have moved on from Clyde. Stuart Balmer is definitely out but Alex Walker could make an unlikely return to the bench. The chances are that he will be given an extra week to rest following a painful injury last weekend.

St Mirren are without the suspended Mixu Paatelainen, who was sent off last week against Hamilton Academical's for two yellow cards. They also miss Simon Lappin, who is on international duty with the Scotland U21's in Spain. Ex-Clyde youngster, John Baird, who was released by the Bully Wee last season, is likely to start for the Buddies after decent form recently, which included a winner against St Johnstone and a goal in a reserve tie with Morton.

This weekend's match at Broadwood will be aired live on Radio Scotland 810 MW, due to the lack of SPL games this weekend.
