Forfar travel to Broadwood confident of victory

Clyde fans often look with some trepidition towards ties with Forfar Athletic and tonight will be no different. The two teams have a record of throwing up close matches, which the underdog usually wins.

The last times the sides met, Forfar took the lead early on through Paul Tosh, after a mistake by Bryan Smith. Simon Mensing soon equalised, but despite several efforts from Pat Keogh and David Hagen, Clyde couldn't find their way past inspired 'keeper Michael Brown for a second time.

Then in the second half, a deep cross from the right was dropped by Bryn Halliwell and Barry Sellars poked home from close range. Despite a barrage of pressure, Clyde couldn't find their way through and missed out on a tie with Rangers as a result.

Tonights game sees both teams trying to recover from a slight drop in form. After 100% starts in the league, both teams have lost and drawn their last two games. Forfar failed to take advantage of an Ayr team, down to 10 men for over 70 minutes, only getting a 3-3 draw. Clyde, also played a 10-man team in Airdrie United and lost 2-1, despite taking the lead.

Clyde might be without Darren Sheridan and Gary Bollan, both of whom have niggly knocks. It's unclear at this time whether either will make it, or indeed if international clearance has come through for Frenchman Mickael Marsiglia to make his debut.

Barry Sellars is set to miss out on a trip to his former team with a hamstring injury. Hugh Davidson also misses out, while Alan Rattray is a doubt after being headbutted by Ayr 'keeper Ludovic Roy.

With Falkirk and St Johnstone already in the next round and Partick Thistle playing in Ross County tonight, there is the chance that the winner of this tie will stand to make a wee bit of money in the next round. These days, every little helps.
