St Mirren managed to overcome Clyde 1-0 at Broadwood in what was their fourth league win over them this season, thanks primarily to the stunning form of goalkeeper Tony Bullock who came to the Buddies rescue on a number of occasions.

Clyde were able to display more of an aesthetic approach under Graham Roberts with prodigies Craig Bryson and Stephen O'Donnell linking up well on a number of occasions to provide some moments of fluid football. St Mirren, on the other hand, with the bustling John Sutton in attack, preferred a more direct and brutal style of football.

It was the Paisley outfit that created the first chance of the match after only nine minutes when Scotland Under-21 cap Simon Lappin swung over a tempting left-foot free-kick for the unmarked Sutton to run on to. The big striker could only watch in disbelief as his header from six yards flashed wide of the post.

St Mirren were keen to get the ball forward early and should have scored after 26 minutes when a lofted David Van Zanten through ball allowed Mark Corcoran to run clean through on keeper Peter Cherrie, but the striker shot weakly into the keeper's arms.

Clyde's possession style of football began to wear down St Mirren, and a sublime piece of trickery should have gifted the Bully Wee with the lead.

Alex Williams knocked the ball to one side of Van Zanten and raced round the other side to collect before driving a rocket of a shot from 16 yards that seemed destined for the net, only for keeper Bullock to race out superbly to deflect the shot.

Bullock was called on again after 66 minutes when an O'Donnell corner was placed on to the head of Eddie Malone. The defender lofted his arms in celebration as he was convinced he had scored, only for Bullock to produce a phenomenal one-handed save to keep the scores level.

Clyde goalkeeper Cherrie managed to emulate his counterpart by producing his own one-handed save from a Charlie Adam header, but the hero quickly became a villain from the resultant corner. Iain Anderson swung the ball into the box and the temptation was too much for Cherrie as the keeper tried to collect the cross, but missed the ball totally, allowing Adam an easy back-post header for the winner.
