County boss Alec Smith came close to beating Clyde as his side dominated the entire first half but then lost out to a counter punch after the break.

During the opening 45 minutes, County's John Rankin was here, there and everywhere taking the play from midfield and generally making Clyde look pedestrian in comparison. Despite the visitors' share of possession, they failed to trouble the Clyde defence because they lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.

In the opening stages Bryn Halliwell easily caught a corner kick from Sean Kilgannon at his near post, and Kilgannon's effort typified the way that County failed to find a way past the Clyde defence.

County came close when David Winters cushioned the long ball on his chest before turning John Potterand landing an effort on the roof of the net. Despite their lack of possession, Clyde came even closer to breaking the deadlock from a dead-ball situation. Alex Burns sent the free-kick into the box, where a miscue by Ian Harty gave Potter an opening when he was stretching for the ball and his shot bounced off the bar.

County responded with the move of the half involving Winters, Kilgannon and Mark McCulloch which ended with McCulloch scraping the outside of the post with his finish.

Clyde settled the game after the break with the route one approach. Keeper Halliwell punted the ball high upfield, and McCulloch misjudged the dropping ball which allowed Harty to run on and beat the advancing Colin Stewart..
