Gretna 3 Clyde 3

Ten-man Clyde battled to a point in a full-blooded clash at Raydale Park.

But it was backs to the wall stuff for the Bully Wee as Gretna poured forward in a desperate search for a winner.

Gretna almost went in front in the 16th minute after Ryan McGuffie cleared the ball over the top and Colin McMenamin attempted a clever lob from 22 yards that was held by back-pedalling goalkeeper Peter Cherrie.

But, just 60 seconds later, a McGuffie cross caused chaos in the Clyde box and Kenny Deuchar lashed in his first goal of the season from close range.

Clyde hit back six minutes later when Stephen O'Donnell pumped a deep free-kick into the Gretna box and Chris Higgins glanced in a header that clipped off the inside of the post.

McMenamin went close again when he latched on to a short back-pass by Craig McKeown and fired just wide with Cherrie stranded.

Gretna went back in front 11 minutes after the break when Eric Paartalu hooked a long ball forward and Cherrie headed clear under pressure from Deuchar, only for McMenamin to power an 18-yard header into the unguarded net.

And it looked like Clyde would be left with a mountain to climb when they were reduced to ten men in the 63rd minute when Chris Higgins received a second yellow card.

But just two minutes later O'Donnell let fly from 30 yards with a shot that took a wicked deflection off Martin Canning and just beat the outstretched hand of the wrong-footed Alan Main.

Four minutes later substitute Steven Masterton smashed in a 20-yard free-kick that deflected off the wall and span into the bottom corner.

Gretna thought they had won a penalty in the 76th minute when David Graham embarked on a brilliant solo run, beating three men before he was chopped down in the box - but the ref waved play on.

Gretna did grab a bizarre leveller with ten minutes to go.

Paartalu launched a long throw which bounced at the near post and ended up in the net, with striker Deuchar claiming that he had got the decisive touch.
