Thistle's relegation was confirmed despite a derby victory against their arch-rivals Clyde.

Thistle went on to the attack from the kick-off, and after only four minutes Armand One should have done better than mis-hit his shot from only six yards. This miss allowed Clyde to clear up the park and Graeme Jones fired a shot from 20 yards which grazed the crossbar, much to the relief of the beaten Kenny Arthur in the Thistle goal.

Following this bright start, neither side were able to produce any clear-chances until 34 minutes when Ian Harty had a chance to put the visitors ahead when his neat turn and shot from 10 yards looked goalbound but hit the crossbar before being cleared.

Thistle took the lead with only their second attempt on goal after 43 minutes when Stephen McConalogue's 25-yard shot was spilled by Bryn Halliwell when it appeared he had made the save.

Thistle continued to dominate in the second half, and Halliwell was able to redeem his first-half blunder with top-class saves from Andy Gibson and McConalogue after 63 minutes and Gibson again in the 71st minute.

Clyde were unable to make any inroads towards the Thistle goal and Halliwell saved them from going further behind with a point-blank stop from a Gibson header.

However, the battling performance by Thistle came too late to save their first division future and they must start to rebuild for life in the second division next season. As for Clyde, who blooded a lot of young players, they will be looking to improve on this season's performances by going for the championship next season.
